Andy Bates has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Andy began their career in 1988 as a Fitter/Electrician at British Rail Plant Engineers, where they completed a Mechanical & Electrical Apprenticeship. Andy then worked as a Production Engineering Technician at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners before joining LINPAC Packaging as an Asset Performance Team Leader. In 2002, they became the Factory Manager at SUNDORA FOODS LIMITED, where they implemented significant operational improvements. Andy then worked as a Senior Manufacturing Consultant at Lauras International, delivering performance improvement projects. Andy held the position of Operations Controller at Energy Alloys and Continuous Improvement & Development Manager at Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc. Afterwards, they became the Operations Director at AWB Associates, helping companies achieve business excellence. Their most recent role was as Vice President of Manufacturing & Capital Engineering at McCain Foods. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in supply chain management, lean manufacturing, and process improvement.

Andy Bates BEng (Hons) graduated from the University of Leeds in 2000 with a degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Andy then attended the University of Bradford from 2003 to 2010, where they obtained an MBA in General Business Management. Prior to their university education, Andy attended Nunthorpe Grammar School from 1982 to 1987, completing their O levels. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Accelerating Change Readiness and Agility Experience from UC Berkeley Executive Education in 2020, McCain Foods - NEXT Global Leader Development Program from The Ivey Academy - Executive Education - Ivey Business School in 2019, and Diversity & Inclusion from Yale School of Management in 2018.
