Dena R. Diorio

Dena R. Diorio is currently the county manager at Mecklenburg County. Prior to this, they served as the director of finance and human resources at the City of Danbury from August 2002 to April 2007. In this role, they were responsible for the budgeting, accounting, grants management, cash management, payroll, financial reporting, risk management, human resources, and labor relations for the city.

Under their direction, the City of Danbury's budget increased by 108%, and investment income increased by $1.5 million. Dena was also responsible for the City's pension administration and coordinated the work of the City's actuary and investment consultant. Thanks to their efforts, the City's investment returns improved and the City's contribution to pension funds was reduced by 16%.

In addition to their financial responsibilities, Diorio also managed all aspects of employee benefits for the City of Danbury. Dena was a founding member of the Connecticut Public Sector Purchasing Coalition and was able to reduce prescription drug and life insurance costs by 7% and 32% respectively.
