Michael A. Bryant

Michael A. Bryant is the assistant county manager for financial services and internal support. In this role, Michael provides executive oversight of the Financial Services Department, the Office of the Tax Collector, the County Assessor’s Office, Information Technology and Human Resources. Also, he leads the County’s enterprise risk management strategy and is accountable for financial planning and compliance throughout the organization.

Michael has been with Mecklenburg County since 2003 and has nearly 25 years of experience in City, County, and State government. He started his career with the County as a Management & Budget Analyst before climbing the ranks to Budget Manager, then Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), before being promoted to Assistant County Manager.

Prior to joining Mecklenburg County, Michael worked for the City of Durham, Duke University, Granville County and the NC Office of the Governor.

Michael serves as President Elect of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States & Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Pubic Administration degree from North Carolina Central University.
