Ralf Kwaschik

Ralf Kwaschik has a diverse work experience. Ralf started their career as a Research Scientist and Doctoral Student at The University of Göttingen, where they focused on mineral supplementation in ruminant nutrition in the tropics. Ralf then worked as a Consultant at Agriculture and Food International Consulting, and as an Agricultural Research Officer and Consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where they led editor and coordinator roles for FAO publications and was involved in technology assessment and transfer programs. Ralf also worked as a Director at Metzen und Partner Consultants GmbH, managing agriculture and rural development projects in Ukraine, Zambia, and Pakistan. Ralf later served as the Senior Advisor and Head of Information Services at the Ministry of Water Resources in Beijing, China, where they focused on research management, desertification, and commercialization. Ralf then joined the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), where they held roles as the Director of Networking and Partnerships and the Coordinator of the Global Non-timber Forest Products (NTFP) Partnership. In these roles, they were responsible for program and project management, fundraising, information and knowledge management, and host country liaison. Ralf also played a key role in the development of an action plan for the Diversity for Development Alliance under the Global Forum on Agricultural Research. Ralf's other work experiences include being an Account Director at Media Matters International and being self-employed as the owner of SHANGRI-LARA Rural Retreat and Magistral Kennels.

Ralf Kwaschik holds a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology and Nutrition, which they obtained from The University of Göttingen between 1984 and 1988. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science degree in Agriculture, General at the same university from 1976 to 1982. Additionally, Ralf Kwaschik received their Abitur from the Albert Schweitzer School in Offenbach/Main. As for additional certifications, they are a PADI Open Water Diver certified by PADI.
