Evelyn Waweru

Senior Researcher at Medic Mobile

Working with the team at Medic, Evelyn aspires to contribute research and evidence on the design and implementation of human centered digital health solutions that will challenge the information asymmetry, inadequate communication, and exclusive decision making channels between providers and consumers of health services in low and middle income countries.

Evelyn Waweru is an adaptive health systems researcher and quality health care change agent. She is a mixed methods research scientist with over 11 years of experience in designing, managing and evaluating health interventions. Evelyn has served in different capacities in the health system. First as a registered nurse; then joining the research team at KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme from 2010 – 2016 as a research officer, using research insights to inform the provision of evidence-driven, human centered, good quality primary health care in resource constrained communities; as well as academic teaching and technical assistance in public health research and policy development. During this period, she also completed her Wellcome Trust Masters Fellowship; attaining her joint Health Policy, Planning and Financing MSc. from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine. She is currently writing up and finalizing her PhD thesis on understanding the challenges and opportunities in implementing patient centered primary health care in Uganda.
