Nicola Heron

Nicola Heron has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Nicola is currently the Chief Strategy Officer at Medicines Discovery Catapult, a position they have held since May 2022. Before this, they served as the Chief Business Officer at the same company from January 2021 to April 2022. Prior to their roles at Medicines Discovery Catapult, Nicola Heron was the Head of Collaborative R&D from January 2018 to December 2020.

In addition to their work at Medicines Discovery Catapult, Nicola Heron served as a Non-Exec Director at Devices for Dignity Limited from August 2013 to June 2018. Nicola also held the position of Programme Director at NIHR D4D Healthcare Technology Cooperative from December 2014 to December 2017.

Nicola'searlier experience includes working as a Programme Manager at NIHR Devices for Dignity MedTech Co-operative from June 2009 to December 2014. In this role, they collaborated with clinicians, patients, academics, and industry to develop medical technology solutions.

Nicola Heron started their career at AstraZeneca as a Chemistry Team Leader from November 1998 to May 2009.

Nicola Heron earned a BSc. Hons in Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde from 1989 to 1994. Nicola then pursued a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Boston College between 1994 and 1998. Later, in 2012 to 2014, Nicola completed an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) at The University of Sheffield.
