Dr Sarwar Chowdhury

Dr Sarwar Chowdhury has extensive work experience in the field of Occupational Health. Dr Sarwar currently works as an Occupational Health Physician at Medigold Health, where they are involved in various areas such as Health Surveillance, Statutory Medicals, Screening/Pre-placement Assessments/Medicals, and Ill-Health Retirement Assessments. Additionally, they serve as the Medical Review Officer and is an HSE approved doctor for Asbestos and Ionising Radiation. Dr Chowdhury is also a Senior Lead Occupational Health Physician for a Tertiary NHS trust in London.

In 2021, they co-founded The Occupational Health Academy and holds the role of Co-Founder and Medical Educator. Dr Sarwar is responsible for teaching in Medical Education for the Diploma of Occupational Medicine Exams and MFOM Part 1 exams.

Dr Chowdhury is actively involved with various organizations in their field. Dr Sarwar serves as the CESR 'Training' Representative for the Society of Occupational Medicine and leads quarterly meetings for CESR candidates. Dr Sarwar also acts as an Outreach Officer for the same organization. Dr Sarwar is a Committee Member for The Association of Rail Industry Occupational Health Practitioners (ARIOPS), where they provide advice and contributes to conferences related to health and safety in the Rail Industry.

Prior to their current roles, Dr Chowdhury worked as a Medical Assessor at MAXIMUS, conducting assessments and reports on occupational health and ability to work for clients. Dr Sarwar also undertook national training for new entrant practitioners in delivering work capability assessments.

Earlier in their career, they worked as a Medical Doctor at DrSarwar Ltd. and held various roles as a Foundation Year 2 Doctor at Birmingham Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and Woodgate Valley Surgery. Dr Sarwar also served as a Foundation Year 1 Doctor at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.

Dr Sarwar Chowdhury has a strong background in Occupational Health and has gained diverse experiences through their work in different organizations and healthcare settings.

Dr Sarwar Chowdhury completed their education history as follows:

From 2020 to 2023, they pursued an MSc in Occupational Medicine at The University of Manchester, specializing in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene.

Between 2007 and 2012, they studied at Queen Mary University of London, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree in Medicine.

From 2004 to 2006, they attended Farnham College, where they completed their A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths.

Dr Sarwar'searlier education was at Weydon School from 1999 to 2004, where they completed their GCSEs.

In addition to their educational qualifications, Dr Sarwar Chowdhury holds several certifications. These include being Tier 4 HAVS approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK, an ORR Registered Doctor 156 accredited by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), an Associateship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (AFOM) obtained from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK, a Diploma of Occupational Medicine (DOccMed) accredited by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK, a Medical Review Officer Certification (MRO) earned from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK, as well as being an Approved Doctor for Asbestos and an Approved Doctor for Ionising Radiation, certified by the Health and Safety Executive.
