Nova Syed

Nova Syed has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and roles. They began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, where they focused on characterizing the repressor function of Par A. They then joined ICDDR,B as an Elective Fellow in the International Field Experience Program. After that, they worked as an Evaluation Research Consultant at R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd., leading multiple client engagements and managing a team during the 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games.

In 2017, Nova Syed joined the Ontario Government, where they held several positions. They started as a Senior Policy Advisor in Health & Social, providing policy advice in the healthcare sector. They later became a Senior Economist at the Office of the Treasury Board, contributing to fiscal and economic matters. Nova then transitioned to a Team Lead role in Pandemic Response & Recovery, overseeing emerging tech policy, performance measurement, and financial oversight. Finally, they served as a Manager in the same department, focusing on pandemic response and recovery strategies.

Currently, Nova Syed is employed at Mekonos Inc. as the VP of Product, a position they started in March 2022. Additionally, they were a founding team member responsible for finance and operations at Mekonos Inc. from October 2017 to February 2022.

Overall, Nova Syed has gained extensive experience in business, cross-functional programs, and leadership roles throughout their career.

Nova Syed has a strong educational background in business and science. Nova completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management in 2018. During their MBA program, Nova also participated in the Creative Destruction Lab as an MBA Fellow in the Prime Stream, further enhancing their business knowledge and skills.

Prior to their MBA, Nova Syed obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular Genetics & Microbiology from the University of Toronto - New College.

In addition to their formal education, Nova Syed has obtained certifications to further strengthen their expertise. Nova completed the CMC Regulatory Compliance for Pharmaceutical Products certification at the University of California, Berkeley in April 2023. Nova also obtained an Advanced Product Management (APM) Certification from Product Faculty in March 2020. These certifications showcase their commitment to professional development and their ability to apply their knowledge in specific areas beyond their formal education.
