Christy Sakamoto

Christy Sakamoto has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being the Programming and Outreach Manager at Meow Wolf since October 2020. Prior to that, they worked at The Mob Museum from February 2017 to October 2020 as the Manager of Interpretation and Mediated Experiences. In this role, they were responsible for managing a large staff, overseeing daily operations, and developing new interpretive activities. Before joining The Mob Museum, Christy served as the Supervisor of Visitor Engagement at the Japanese American National Museum from November 2012 to February 2017. Christy also held various other positions at the museum, including Education/Hirasaki National Resource Center Coordinator and Education Coordinator. During their time at the Japanese American National Museum, Christy managed visitor engagement, coordinated group visits, oversaw volunteers, and provided research assistance. Additionally, they worked as an Archive Intern at Visual Communications from January 2010 to August 2010, where they maintained an extensive multimedia archive and digitized collections. Overall, Christy Sakamoto has a strong background in museum management, visitor engagement, and archival work.

Christy Sakamoto completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007. Christy then pursued their Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree with a focus on Archival Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2008 to 2010.
