Associate Director Of Academic Outreach at Mercatus Center

Devin Scanlon has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Devin started their career as a Legal Intern at The Law Offices of Minora, Minora, Colbassani, Krowiak, and Mattioli in 2012. This was followed by a role as a Legal Intern to Judge Michael Barrasse at the Lackawanna County Courthouse in 2013. From 2014 to 2015, Devin worked as an Assistant to Northeast Field Director on the Tom Corbett campaign for Governor, recruiting and organizing volunteers. In 2014, they also served as a Researcher and Outreach Coordinator at the Old Hemlock Foundation, managing and cataloguing artifacts and creating educational videos.

Devin's teaching and education experience includes roles as a World History and SAT Prep Teacher, Debate Coach, and Education Technology Advisor at Somerset Academy Charter Schools from 2015 to 2016. Devin also worked as a Site Team Manager and Lead Resident Educator at Turner Multifamily Impact Fund from 2016 to 2017, managing afterschool and summer educational programs.

From 2016 to 2017, Devin worked as an Education Technology Advisor, Middle School Teacher, and Debate Coach at Grace Leadership Preparatory Institute. In this role, they implemented career development programs, STEAM transdisciplinary work, and trained teachers and administrators on education technologies.

In 2017, Devin joined the Republican Party of Pennsylvania as a Regional Field Director, where they supervised and trained a team of field organizers and oversaw the Republican Leadership Initiative.

Since 2018, Devin has been working at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Devin started as an Academic Outreach Coordinator, providing resources and training to university-based research center leaders and academic entrepreneurs. In 2022, they were promoted to the role of Associate Director of Academic Outreach, where they scout new academic entrepreneurs and helps centers build capacity and bring innovative ideas to the classroom and policy space.

Devin Scanlon obtained a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. During this time, they pursued studies in both Classical Studies and Political Science, completing their undergraduate education in four years.
