Meridian Township
Patricia Herring Jackson has extensive experience in planning and academia, serving as a Planning Commissioner for Meridian Township since January 2000. From 2010 to 2015, Patricia served as an Advisor for the Black Graduate Student Association at Michigan State University. Additionally, Patricia worked at Michigan State University as a Research Assistant Professor from July 1987 to 2015. Patricia holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemical Pharmacology from Meharry Medical College and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Bennett Career Institute.

Meridian Township is located approximately 10 miles east of Michigan's State Capital, Lansing, and is immediately adjacent to Michigan State University. The Township has a current population of approximately 40,000, and has a park system with over 906 acres of park land in 28 parks and natural areas. Meridian Township residents enjoy quiet, safe, and well maintained neighborhoods with plenty of open space where families can play and spend time together. Lake Lansing is the largest lake within 25 miles of the State Capital, and is located in Meridian Township.
