Enrique Escarda-Castro is a PhD candidate at the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine, focusing on developing an in vitro model of the intestine that emphasizes the role of the nervous system. Prior experience includes an internship at the MERLN Institute under the supervision of Dr. Paul Wieringa and a scholarship in the Cell Biology Department at Universidad de León, where Enrique conducted research that led to a published paper on the epigenotoxic effects of bisphenol A on developing cardiac cells. Enrique has also completed internships at INDEGSAL and IDIS, contributing to various research projects in the field of biotechnology, following a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Universidad de León.
