Sarah Smith has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Sarah started their career as a Research Assistant at the UK cystic fibrosis gene therapy consortium in 2008. Sarah then worked as a Managing Editor at BlueSci from 2013 to 2014. Sarah pursued their PhD at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute from 2010 to 2014 and continued as a Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on virus genomics and studying human host proteins.
In 2016, Sarah joined Kymab Ltd as a Research Scientist I and later advanced to the role of Research Scientist II. Sarah then transitioned to the Discovery Project Management Team and worked as an Associate Project Manager and subsequently as a Project Manager. Sarah's responsibilities in these roles included defining project scopes, setting milestones, and monitoring progress against timelines and budgets.
Most recently, Sarah joined Mestag Therapeutics as a Project Manager before being promoted to the position of Senior Project Manager in September 2022. In this role, they support the Target Discovery team by overseeing the delivery of screens to identify potential targets for the antibody discovery pipeline. Sarah'skey responsibilities include budget and timeline development, risk identification, scenario planning, and ensuring the project team's needs are met for successful project delivery.
Throughout their work experience, Sarah has demonstrated adaptability, strong project management skills, and a focus on scientific research and development.
Sarah Smith attended Hills Road Sixth Form College from 2004 to 2006. After completing their studies there, they then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular Biology at the University of York from 2006 to 2010. Following their undergraduate studies, they subsequently pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Virology at the University of Cambridge from 2010 to 2015. In terms of additional certifications, Sarah Smith obtained the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification from the Association for Project Management in October 2018, and later acquired the APM Project Management Qualification in May 2020.
