Richard Mace is a Scientific Software Engineer at the Met Office since September 2020, with a strong academic background and extensive experience in the field of physics and software development. Prior to this role, Richard actively sought new opportunities between January and May 2020 after leaving an academic position at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where Richard served as Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer from November 2003 to January 2020. Additional experience includes a role as Research Physicist at the Hermanus Magnetic Observatory and multiple positions at various universities, including postdoctoral roles and senior lecturer positions. Richard holds a Ph.D. in Physics, as well as a BSc(HONS) and BSc in Physics and Applied Mathematics, all obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
