Tao Xiang

Tao Xiang is a distinguished academic and industry leader in the fields of computer vision and machine learning. Currently serving as a Professor of Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the University of Surrey since February 2019, Tao also holds the position of Director of AI at Meta since December 2020, where responsibilities include leading a team of AI research scientists and machine learning engineers in the development of image and video generative AI technologies. Previous roles include Principal Research Scientist at Samsung AI Centre in Cambridge and Professor of Computer Vision at Queen Mary, University of London, where Tao conducted research and taught at various academic levels. Tao completed a PhD in Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore from 1998 to 2001, following studies at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
