Timothy Macdonald

Timothy Macdonald has a diverse work experience in software engineering and music. Timothy is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Metabase starting from September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Herald as a Senior Software Engineer (Consultant) from February 2022 to May 2022. In their previous tenure at Metabase from October 2020 to July 2021, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to a large open-source Clojure web app.

Timothy's experience also includes working as an Engineering Team Lead at Kin Insurance from May 2018 to September 2020, where they played a key role in team management, product management, and technical decision-making. Before that, they worked as a Software Engineering Consultant at Clean Coders from September 2017 to May 2018, and at Keypunch Studios from September 2016 to May 2018.

Additionally, Timothy has experience in full-stack web development as a Software Engineering Consultant at MPA Healthcare Solutions from November 2015 to June 2017. Timothy also worked as a Software Engineer at Groupon from September 2013 to July 2015, where they contributed to the development of internal tools and implemented an NLP system for deal analysis. Finally, they started their career as a Software Developer / QA at Everpurse from December 2012 to August 2013.

In parallel to their software engineering career, Timothy is an accomplished Scottish-Baroque Fiddler, engaging in performance, recording, and scholarly research on Scottish, Scottish-Baroque, and Elizabethan violin music.

Timothy Macdonald attended Wheaton College from 2011 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science. Timothy then pursued further education at The University of Edinburgh from 2021 to 2022, where they obtained a Master of Science by Research degree in Scottish Ethnology.
