Matthew Moroney has a diverse range of work experience in various fields. Matthew started their career as an Arctic Researcher at the Woods Hole Research Center in 2011. From there, they worked as a Senior Staff Environmental Scientist at Landau Associates, where they supervised teams and managed client relationships for environmental investigations and cleanup actions. In 2017, Matthew was a Green Chemistry & Circular Economy Intern at Metabolic, where they designed a framework for software that predicts environmental impact and toxicity of chemical mixtures. Matthew also developed a process flow diagram for evaluating the lifecycle impacts of diverting steel gas exhaust for chemical production. Matthew then worked as a Research Assistant at Data-Driven EnviroLab, leading research projects on the impact of air pollution on consumer credit card spending and analyzing environmental indicators in global cities. In 2018, Matthew took on multiple roles simultaneously. Matthew was a Sustainability Consultant at Sustainability A to Z, working on various sustainability projects. Matthew also served as a Manager at New Haven Community Solar, LLC, raising funds for a solar array project that provides concessional rates to a CT non-profit organization. Additionally, Matthew worked as a Board Observer at Raise Green, where they operated workflows for an impact investment portal and conducted project finance modeling for renewable energy projects. Matthew maintained code base and cloud infrastructure using various technologies. In 2018, Matthew was a Community Engagement Fellow at Blue Ivy Ventures, a venture capital firm that raises capital from Yale alumni and invests in alumni-led startups. Lastly, Matthew has teaching experience as a Lecturer at Yale School of the Environment. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Sustainable Finance at Metabolic, starting in 2023.
