Sothira Toch

Sothira Toch is a Senior Research Associate at Metagenomi since January 2023, bringing extensive expertise in strain engineering and enzymology. Previously, Sothira held a similar role at Zymergen from September 2017 to January 2023, where responsibilities included designing DNA integrations for bacterial hosts, optimizing biosynthetic pathways, and conducting high-throughput strain builds. Sothira's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, complemented by various research roles at notable institutions, including MIT Department of Biology and the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. Additionally, Sothira demonstrated leadership as a project leader for service initiatives in Cambodia and has experience in public outreach through fundraising for the MIT Alumni Association.
