About the role:

Metropolitan Commercial Bank’s CRE Lending Group is seeking a Junior Portfolio Manager to assist in the management of a growing commercial real estate loan portfolio. This role will report to the bank's Portfolio Manager and will materially contribute to the continued high growth and oversight of the commercial real estate portfolio. The loan portfolio consists of various types of commercial loans, including but not limited to lines of credit, term notes, and permanent loans. The portfolio is comprised of a variety of asset classes, including multifamily, retail, mixed-use, office, land and hotel. 

Duties and responsibilities of the job include the following (but is not limited too):

  • Engage in daily dialogue with Commercial Lenders (CLs) and Portfolio Manager (PM) regarding portfolio management and property related concerns.  
  • Assist in gathering financial information, including financial statements, rent rolls, tax returns, and any other information required to maintain the bank files updated on an ongoing basis.  
  • Prepare annual reviews, including property performance status and tracking of covenant compliance requirements. 
  • Assist the PM in the preparation and gathering of updated information for the quarterly loan review Memos (Watchlist/Criticized loans).  
  • Assist PM with quarterly reviews of the Transitional Loan portfolio, including property performance updates and reporting requirements. 
  • Develop a quarterly action plan, in advance, for loans coming up for maturity and/or renewal by maintaining ongoing communication with PM and CLs. 
  • Prepare approval Memos with respect to maturity extensions, modification of existing loan terms and covenant waivers.
  • Coordinate with PM and CLs to obtain outstanding information requested in connection with bank audits.   

Preferred experience, education, and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial real estate lending, financial analysis, or a related field.
  • Perform quality work within determined timeframes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of real estate market trends and commercial lending practices.
  • Perform quality work within determined timeframes
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, vendors and shareholders
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees, departments, divisions, etc.
  • Work on ad-hoc tasks, assignments and projects as needed

Potential Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 annually

This salary range only reflects base wages and does not include benefits, bonus, or incentive pay. Salary bands are purposefully wide ranging to encompass the different factors considered in determining where a candidate falls in the range, including but not limited to, seniority, performance, experience, education, and any other legitimate, non-discriminatory factor permitted by law.
