Richard Files is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in hazardous materials response, emergency management, and emergency medical services. Currently serving as the Manager of CBRN & WMD Detection & Mitigation at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority since April 2018, Richard leads a specialized unit that develops strategies for mitigating chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. Richard has held various positions, including Lieutenant on the Berkeley Hazardous Materials Response Team and Hazmat Specialist with New Jersey Task Force 1. Previous roles include working at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as a Hazardous Material Technician EMT, where Richard coordinated responses to WMD incidents and trained new personnel. Additional experience spans environmental health and safety, community service, and emergency medical services, featuring a certificate in Emergency Medical Technology obtained from the Center for Allied Health Education.
