The board of directors at Metsä Group has a long history of experience in the forestry industry. Many of the members have worked in sawmills, such as Keitele Timber Oy, and have also received training from the Finnish Forest Centre. The board also includes members with a higher education in forestry from the University of Eastern Finland.
