Bump Halbritter

Director, First-year Writing Program at Michigan State University

Bump Halbritter is an experienced academic currently serving as the Director of the First-Year Writing Program and Associate Professor in Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures at Michigan State University since August 2006. Prior to this role, Bump held a position as a Lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric at Stanford University from September 2004 to June 2006. Bump's educational background includes a Ph.D. in English with a focus on Rhetoric and Composition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master's degree in English Language and Literature from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Earlier in Bump's career, involvement in music as a "singer dude" occurred during the early 1990s at Neverland.
