Georgia Kapatai has a wealth of work experience in the field of bioinformatics. From 2017 to present, they have been a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Microbiotica Limited. From 2013 to 2017, they were a Bioinformatics Scientist at Public Health England, where they were responsible for developing and implementing robust, innovative bioinformatics approaches to support the Division’s activities in the detection, characterization and surveillance of microbial pathogens. Georgia also contributed to outbreak investigations and the development, implementation and management of web-driven systems to support molecular surveillance and population genetics research. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UKCRC Modernising Medical Microbiology Consortium, where they investigated the routine prediction of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates using whole-genome sequence data. From 2004 to 2007, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, where they investigated the pathogenesis of EBV in Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and used Mass Spectrometry to identify cellular proteins that interact with LMP1 in vitro and determine whether such interactions take place in vivo.
