Melissa Lawson

Director, Translational Biology (in vivo) at Microbiotica

Melissa Lawson has held various positions in the field of biology since 2012. Melissa began their career as a Post-doc at the University of Bern, followed by a Marie Curie Skłodowska Fellowship at the Institute of Food Research; Quadram Bioscience; UEA in 2015. Melissa then moved to the University of East Anglia as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2014. In 2017, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Quadram Institute. In 2018, they took on the role of Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Manchester, and in 2019 they were appointed Head of the University of Manchester's Axenic and Gnotobiotic Mouse Facility. Most recently, in 2022, they were appointed Director, Translational Biology (in vivo) at Microbiotica.

Melissa Lawson obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology from the University of Bern between 2010 and 2012. Prior to that, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology from McMaster University between 2007 and 2010. Melissa also obtained their Master's Degree in Veterinary Pathology and Pathobiology from the University of Guelph between 2005 and 2007.
