Jim Rowland has been an employee owner of Mid South since being hired as a Customer Service Representative in 1984. His 37+ years has introduced him to many roles and responsibilities. After 3 months on the Customer Service counter, he was introduced to Outside Sales. This is where he found his true appreciation for their customers, the contractors. The respect he gained for this group of people is still growing each and every day.
As their company started to grow, he moved back inside to the role of Operations Manager in 1989. Here, he was able to work with every department that serviced their customer, with an understanding of their customer’s expectations learned while being in Outside Sales.
As they began to open locations (Winchester ’91, Fredericksburg ’94) his role became more broad than just their Springfield branch. How does a company get individual locations to work together, structure them similarly, and yet give them autonomy due to their unique geography? In 1996, he was promoted to Executive Vice President. He stayed in that role for 23 years during the expansion from 3 to 8 locations. In 2019, he became President/COO of Mid South.
