Denise Nickel, PP, AICP, is a seasoned urban planner with extensive experience in economic development and strategic planning. Currently serving as Principal Planner for Middlesex County, NJ, since January 2017, Denise has contributed to the County's Strategic Plan - Destination 2040 and has managed projects such as the bicycle-pedestrian master plan and the Southern Middlesex County Freight Movements Study. Prior roles include Economic Development Representative for Middlesex County, Senior Project Manager at the Middlesex County Improvement Authority, and Assistant Director of Economic Development for Jersey City. Denise holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning from Rutgers University, along with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University.
