Michael Roy Ph.D. has extensive experience in climate change strategy, environmental and social responsibility, conservation, evolutionary biology and wildlife management. In 1992, they began their career as a Research Associate at the Institute of Zoology, University of London, where they conducted research on canids of North and South America. In 1993, they were a Research Associate at UCLA. From 1995 to 1998, they were a Senior Research Associate at the University of Copenhagen, where they undertook research projects aimed at understanding the role of montane regions in the evolution of African and South American tropical regions. From 1998 to 2002, they were a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, where they conducted research in conservation and evolutionary biology of marine invertebrates and taught Genetics, Conservation Biology and Wildlife Management courses. In 2002, they were a Visiting Professor at the Smithsonian Institution. In 2003, they founded and became President of Conservation through Research Education and Action (CREA). In 2010, they were a Founding Partner at Common Fields, which aimed to develop new business models within the Agriculture sector. From 2011 to 2016, they were Managing Partner/CSO at Milepost Consulting, where they provided leadership and guidance on their ESG programs. Since 2016, they have been an Independent Consultant, working with LDCs, SIDs and other developing nations to develop large scale climate change adaptation projects and programs at the national and regional level.

Michael Roy Ph.D. completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London between 1988 and 1992. Prior to this, they obtained a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Biology and Genetics from UCL between 1984 and 1992.
