Gary Soots

Gary Soots has had a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Gary began their career in the US Army, serving in various Human Resource positions and eventually retiring as a Senior Human Resources Generalist/Administrative Specialist. Following their retirement from the military in 2001, they ventured into entrepreneurship, becoming the Principal and CEO of Soots Group, Inc., where they provided personal and professional services, including resume writing and career services.

Throughout their career, Soots has held various training and development roles. Gary worked as a Training and Development Specialist for Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County, General Dynamics Information Technology, and STG International, Inc., providing workforce development and leadership development consulting services. Gary also worked as a Technical Trainer for Briljent, supporting the implementation of a major state government social services technology upgrade project.

Soots has experience in the field of emergency management as well. Gary served as an Emergency Management Coordinator for Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County, managing the Emergency Operations Center during disaster response activations.

In the healthcare industry, Soots worked as a Business Continuity Coordinator for Indiana University Health, where they protected the organization's revenue stream through disaster response, recovery, and business resiliency efforts. Gary also wrote and implemented policies, plans, and procedures.

More recently, Soots worked as a Learning Capabilities Consultant for BayOne Solutions, providing expertise in learning and development. Gary currently holds the role of a Program/Project Support Analyst at Millennium Software and Staffing, where they support a multi-million-dollar legacy technology transition project for a State Government Department of Human Services.

Overall, Gary Soots has amassed a wealth of experience in training and development, emergency management, business continuity, and project support across a variety of industries and organizations.

Gary Soots obtained their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Management and Administrative Studies from Excelsior University in 2001. In 2002, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Human Resources Management from Oakland City University. Later, in 2012, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Human Resource Development from Indiana State University. Additionally, in 2007, Gary attended Harvard University for a brief period to study Management Information Systems, General, although they did not obtain a degree from that institution.

In terms of certifications, Gary obtained three certifications in 2023. Gary completed the Employee Engagement certification from LinkedIn in March 2023, followed by the Leadership Foundations certification from the same institution in March 2023. In February 2023, they also obtained the Executive Leadership certification from LinkedIn.
