Soroush Heidari Pahlavian

Soroush Heidari Pahlavian has experience working as a Research Scientist II at MIM Software Inc. since August 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Southern California from July 2018 to July 2020. During this time, they conducted statistical analysis and developed non-invasive biomarkers for quantifying cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative disorders. Soroush also developed algorithms and software platforms for automated segmentation and labeling workflows in MATLAB.

Before their role at the University of Southern California, Soroush worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and PhD Fellow at The University of Akron from August 2013 to May 2018. In this position, they developed GUI-based software platforms for analysis and visualization of clinical measurements, as well as machine learning platforms for detecting brain anatomical landmarks from MR images. Soroush also worked on post-processing software for multiple medical imaging modalities.

Soroush's earlier experience includes working as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Tehran from September 2011 to June 2013. During this time, they designed and developed subject-specific 3D models of the cervical spinal canal and conducted numerical analysis of cerebrospinal fluid motion. Soroush also developed a pipeline for post-processing and visualization of computational fluid dynamics results.

Soroush Heidari Pahlavian holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering, which they obtained from The University of Akron. Soroush completed their PhD from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tehran from 2011 to 2013. Soroush started their academic journey with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran, which they completed from 2007 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Soroush Heidari Pahlavian has also obtained various certifications. Soroush holds certifications in Convolutional Neural Networks, Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, and Neural Networks and Deep Learning. These certifications were earned from the Coursera platform, with the majority obtained in October and November of 2019.
