Bob Nelson

Bob Nelson has a long and impressive career in the field of neuroscience. Bob began their career in 1987 as a post-doctoral fellow at DuPont Experimental Station. In 1989, they moved to Harvard Medical School as a post-doctoral fellow. In 1991, they joined Pfizer Global Research and Development as an Associate Research Fellow, where they held additional titles during their tenure and served as a principal investigator directing a laboratory focused on developing new candidate therapies for Alzheimer's disease and stroke recovery. In 2010, they joined Lundbeck Research USA as a Research Fellow and Head of Neurovascular Inflammation. In 2016, they became the Ryan Research Professor of Neuroscience at the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience at the University of Rhode Island, and they co-founded MindImmune Therapeutics, Inc., a pharmaceutical company developing first-in-class drugs that target the immune system to treat diseases of the central nervous system.

Bob Nelson attended Northwestern University from 1981 to 1987, where they earned a M.S. and Ph.D. in the Neuroscience Program/Department of Psychology. Prior to that, they attended the University of California, Davis from 1976 to 1980, where they earned a B.S. in the Biology Program/Department of Psychology.
