Jason O'Rourke

Jason O'Rourke has a diverse work experience in the mining and resources industry. Jason started their career as an Apprentice Electrical Fitter Mechanic at Newlands Coal in 1993. Jason then worked at Thiess in various roles, including Electrical / Mechanical Foreman and CHPP Operations and Maintenance Superintendent. In 2003, they joined Curragh Mine as the CHPP Operations Superintendent and later became the Coal Processing Plant Manager.

O'Rourke joined Vale in 2006, where they held positions such as Operations Manager and General Manager of Maintenance, Engineering & Technology - Global Coal. Jason also briefly served as the General Manager of Human Resources. In 2010, they joined Xstrata Coal as the Manager of Major Projects in Western NSW.

In 2012, O'Rourke became the Executive General Manager at New Emerald Coal, responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the NEC coal operations. Jason also served as the General Manager of Engineering & Maintenance - Oil and Gas.

From 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Project Manager at Idemitsu Australia Resources, focusing on the Boggabri Operating Strategy. Since 2017, O'Rourke has been with Mineral Resources Limited, initially as the Executive General Manager of the crushing & processing division of CSI Mining Services. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Operating Officer.

Throughout their career, O'Rourke has demonstrated expertise in areas such as project management, operational excellence, maintenance strategies, and leadership in the mining industry.

Jason O'Rourke attended UNSW from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Prior to that, they attended Townsville Grammar School from 1987 to 1992. In addition to their formal education, Jason has also obtained additional certifications, including the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and Learn to Lead with UNSW in 2021.
