Matthew Webber

Matthew Webber currently serves as the Director of the R&D Tax Incentive at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, a position held since October 2025. Previously, Matthew was the Group Lead for the Research & Development Tax Incentive at Callaghan Innovation from September 2023 to October 2025, and held the role of RDTI Operational Lead at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment earlier in 2023. Matthew's career includes managerial positions in R&D assessment and technical management at Callaghan Innovation, as well as significant research roles at Bayer and Syngenta. Matthew's academic credentials include a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College London and a Master of Chemistry degree from The University of Sheffield. A notable postdoctoral position was held at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung under the guidance of Nobel laureate Benjamin List, focusing on asymmetric organocatalysis.
