Basile Marquier has a diverse work experience in various fields. In 2010, they worked as a trainee in the statistics department of Direction Generale de l'Administration et de la Fonction Publique, where they conducted statistical surveys and used SAS for descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis. In 2012, they interned as a statistician in the physics and IT department of MAASTRO clinic, where they extracted information from medical images using Matlab.
Starting from 2013, they joined the University of Sheffield, initially as a PhD student in Econometrics, focusing on Bayesian statistics and cointegration in time series. During their time at the university, they also served as a teaching assistant, lecturer for second-year students in Statistical Reasoning, and lecturer for Masters MSc. Basile provided statistics consultation services and worked on their thesis titled "Bayesian cointegration on multivariate time series."
In 2014, Basile Marquier became the President of the Postgraduate Society of the University of Sheffield, where they led the committee in organizing social events for postgraduate students. Basile also worked part-time at MASH, providing math and statistics help to the university's undergraduates and postgraduates.
From 2017, Basile Marquier took up roles as a statistics advisor at the Maths and Statistics Help Center at the University of Sheffield and the Mathematics Learning Centre at De Montfort University. Basile assisted students in their Master's and Ph.D. projects related to statistics.
In 2020, Basile Marquier joined HSBC as a Lead Data Scientist, specializing in detecting fraud in online banking. Basile used R and Python to build algorithms and analyze fraud behavior among customers. Basile held this position until 2021.
Currently, since 2022, Basile Marquier works at Minitab as an Analytics Consultant - EMEA.
Basile Marquier has an extensive education history in the field of mathematics and statistics. They obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from The University of Sheffield from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's degree in Financial Mathematics at The University of Sheffield from 2011 to 2012. Basile also holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from INSA Rouen, which they completed from 2009 to 2012.
In addition to their academic degrees, Basile Marquier has a certification in HSK Level 1 - Chinese Mandarin, which they obtained in November 2015 from the Confucius Language Academy Ltd.
