Andre Patterson

Assistant Head Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator & Defensive Line Coach at Minnesota Vikings

Andre Patterson returns to help oversee Minnesota's defense as Co-Defensive Coordinator and will continue to lead the Vikings defensive line in 2020, his 9th season overall with the club. Patterson brings 38 years of coaching experience, 17 in the NFL, to the position. He reunited in Minnesota with Head Coach Mike Zimmer, as they worked together in Dallas from 2000-2002 with the Cowboys defense and at Weber State in 1988.

Patterson earlier worked for the Vikings as the defensive line coach in 1998-99. He has coached at each level, working as a high school head coach, 15 years as a college head coach and assistant and 16 seasons as an NFL coach.

With Patterson at the helm of the defensive line for the last 6 seasons, the Vikings rank 3rd in the NFL in sacks (260), rushing TDs allowed (123) and yards per game (321.8). In 2019, the Vikings posted 30 defensive takeaways, the 3rd-best mark in the league. Of those takeaways, the 17 INTs rank 3rd in the NFL and the 14 FRs rank 5th.
