Brian M. Adesman

Brian is a litigator whose practice encompasses complex commercial, trademark, professional responsibility, employment, and class action litigation before federal and state courts. His trial experience spans several practice areas and crosses international borders. Brian has handled numerous matters in several courts throughout the United States at the federal and state level as well as domestic and international arbitrations. He has experience in all phases of litigation, including trying cases in front of a jury, conducting examinations of fact and expert witnesses, arguing contested pre-trial and trial motions, and leading depositions. Brian represents clients in a wide range of industries, including entertainment, media start-ups, health care, and advertising.

Prior to joining Mintz, Brian founded a Los Angeles–based law firm that handled a range of complex civil litigation, including personal injury matters and class actions. Brian represented clients in civil rights, personal injury, employment, and medical malpractice cases.

Before that, Brian spent several years as an associate at an AmLaw 100 international law firm, where he gained extensive experience in domestic and international arbitrations. Brian served as second-chair on a trial team that won an international arbitration alleging trademark claims worth over $300 million, following a five-week international arbitration in Montreal, Canada. Before that, Brian served on a trial team that won a domestic arbitration that was awarded over $4 million in damages after successfully arguing several different fraud claims, breach of contract, and alter ego.

All the while, Brian maintains an active pro bono practice representing victims of domestic violence at the trial court and appellate court levels.

In law school, Brian received his JD from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law, earning certificates in Media & Entertainment Law as well as Business Law. During law school, he served as president of USC’s Entertainment Law Society and worked for a major film studio’s business and legal affairs department. Additionally, Brian was selected to participate in USC’s Hale Moot Court Honors Program and asked to represent USC in the annual Willem C. Vis East Commercial Arbitration Moot competition, which took place in Hong Kong. Upon graduation from law school, Brian was inducted into USC’s Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society. Prior to law school, he received his BA, summa cum laude, from the University of Oregon in 2012.

Before law school, Brian managed rock bands and worked for several talent agencies.
