Applied Research Scientist, Computer Vision at Miovision

Nicholas Miller began their work experience in 2006 as a Research Tools Developer at Dalhousie University. Nicholas worked part-time implementing browser instrumentation for Bonnie Mackay, a researcher in HCI at the university. Nicholas continued to maintain and enhance the product while pursuing their Master's Degree at the University of Waterloo until 2007.

In 2008, Nicholas joined Miovision Technologies as a Video Analytics Developer. Nicholas worked in this role for five years until 2013 when they transitioned to the role of Applied Research Scientist, specializing in Computer Vision. Nicholas currently holds this position, with no specified end date.

Additionally, Nicholas also worked as a Graduate Researcher at the University of Waterloo from September 2006 to August 2008.

Nicholas Miller began their education at Horton High School, where they attended from 1999 to 2002. After completing high school, they went on to study at St. Jerome's University from 2002 to 2006, earning a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Computer Science. Following their undergraduate studies, Nicholas pursued further education and obtained a Master of Mathematics degree in Machine Vision and Artificial Intelligence from an undisclosed institution between 2006 and 2008.

In addition to their formal education, Nicholas has also obtained several certifications. In 2012, they completed a course on Probabilistic Graphical Models offered by Coursera. In 2013, they obtained a certification in the Control of Mobile Robots from the same institution. In 2015, they further expanded their knowledge by completing a course in Machine Learning, also provided by Coursera. Most recently, in 2023, Nicholas obtained a certification in Building Deep Learning Applications with Keras 2.0 from LinkedIn.
