Ty Shaw-Williams

Ty Shaw-Williams is an experienced law enforcement professional and educator, currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Broward College since January 2023 and as a Police Captain at Miramar Police Department since June 2008. In the role of Police Captain, Shaw-Williams has held positions such as Ethics Instructor, Public Information Officer, and Internal Affairs Sergeant-Investigator, focusing on ethical leadership, media communication, and investigations into officer conduct. Additional experience includes facilitating community dialogues as an Event Host for the Urban League of Broward County and as a Peace Circle Facilitator for the South Florida Justice Project. Earlier roles encompassed instructing criminal justice courses at Miami-Dade College and providing support to victims of crime as a Domestic Violence Practitioner. Education includes a Master's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science and a focus on Public Safety Leadership Development from Florida Atlantic University.
