David Vance

David Vance has extensive experience in intellectual property, specifically in patent law. David currently serves as the Head of Intellectual Property at miRecule, Inc. since 2023. Prior to that, they were the President of Vance Intellectual Property, PC from 2000 to present. In this role, they provided various services such as technology in-licensing advice, freedom-to-operate searches, and drug candidate protection. David also successfully obtained a US patent for a multimillion-dollar asset sale.

Before their current position, David served as an Intellectual Property Attorney at Denovo Biopharma from 2022 to 2022. David was responsible for overseeing all intellectual property operations and providing support in business development efforts. David also worked as a Patent Counsel at Gardella Grace P.A. from 2021 to 2022.

In earlier roles, David served as a Patent Counsel at Adial Pharmaceuticals from 2011 to 2014, where they played a vital role in corporate asset purchase and sale due diligence initiatives. David also provided counseling services regarding technology in-licensing, infringement, and freedom-to-operate matters. Additionally, they worked as a Patent Counsel at Clinical Data from 2008 to 2010, where they managed patent estate and outside counsel relationships, provided patent strategy counseling, and handled freedom-to-operate issues and due diligence.

David's career also includes experience as a Patent Attorney at Adenosine Therapeutics from 2006 to 2008. David started their career as a Senior Patent Agent at DuPont Pharmaceuticals from 1995 to 1999 and as a Patent Agent-Chemical Technical Advisor at Oblon Spivak from 1993 to 1995. In these roles, they prosecuted patent applications across various industries and provided patentability searches and opinions.

David Vance's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Delaware, which they earned from 1984 to 1988. David then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry at The Ohio State University, completing their studies from 1988 to 1993. Following this, they attended Widener University School of Law from 1996 to 1998, where they obtained their Juris Doctor (JD) degree, specializing in law. Finally, from 1999 to 2001, David attended the University of Virginia School of Law, earning a second JD degree with a focus on law.
