Pay Range: $160,000 - $190,000
Location: San Francisco, CA. 

This is a hybrid position, and candidates must be able to work three days per week in our San Francisco office.

YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY

We seek a skilled technical nonprofit Finance Director, with hands on experience within GL Accounting, restricted & unrestricted funding, who will lead the day-to-day complex accounting within a dynamic nonprofit accounting team. 

The ideal candidate will be experienced in numerous fund-raising platforms and has proven leadership, process improvement, and multi-entity experience. Being a CPA is a plus, bringing technical expertise in nonprofit accounting, experienced in grant contracts, is a strategic partner to the C-Suite, solid leader & mentor, with advanced Excel and SAGE systems experience. 

Reporting to the CFO, this is a hybrid work environment, offering excellent benefits & leadership. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supervision of the day-to-day operations of GL Nonprofit accounting operations and team, with GAAP, CAS, and FASB compliance knowledge

  • Full-Cycle GAAP fund accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, general ledger, financial statements, cost centers, chart of accounts & distribution, AdHoc from C-Suite

  • Experience in working in Numerous Fund Raising Platforms, Technical Knowledge, Complex Structure, and Forms

  • Skilled in budgeting & forecasting within multi-entity environments, collaborating with internal stakeholder leadership teams

  • Skilled in PCB Audit, managing including documentation within the Audit of all individual, business, foundation, donations, and government grants, financial records, and contracts, including conducting internal control reviews

  • Experienced in revenue accounting operations, deferred, and expense accounting allocation practices

  • Cash Flow Management, oversee the day-to-day operations, review and reconciliation of cash transactions, and bank statements

  • Oversee Fund Accounting Management daily operations, an overview of restrictions, monitor variance, and reconciliation

  • Fixed Asset Analysis, reconciliation, liabilities, and fund balances overview monitoring

  • Proven success in developing & streamlining process improvements within accounting operations, establishing policies, processes, and internal controls

  • Experienced in leading teams for external audit, manage tight deadlines, provide training to staff to ensure compliance with external Audit

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, including establishing & managing schedules, deliverables

  • Experience with numerous ERP Implementation, to automate financial reporting processes, to establish efficiency within accounting operations

  • Proficiency in leading & managing teams, training & mentoring with established policies and procedures

  • Lead the team in managing multiple and often simultaneous tasks and creating a work environment recognized for a high level of organization, timeliness, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, and results

  • Demonstrate ability to work in an environment that promotes compassion, service, and social justice.

YOUR KEYS TO SUCCESS

To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:

  • Hands-on Full-cycle GAAP Accountant with a minimum of 10 years of accounting operations experience, with a minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with a Nonprofit industry background

  • BA in Accounting or Bus Admin, MBA or Masters in Accounting, CPA (a plus)

  • Thorough understanding of government contract accounting (Federal, State, City Contracts)

  • Ability to manage complex accounting functions and Fund Accounting background, for a large organization, with GAAP, CAS, and FASB compliance knowledge

  • SAGE or similar ERP systems experience, Advanced level Excel

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, nimble & flexible, ability to wear many hats, within a team collaborative environment.
