Summary  We seek a highly skilled and dynamic executive to join our finance leadership team as our European Controller. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting across our UK and European operations, reporting to the Global Corporate Controller. Leading a team of professionals, you will be responsible for managing all financial reporting elements for EMEA entities and branches, as well as day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring all financial information's accuracy, integrity, and timeliness. You will also help develop and manage our internal control standards and practices in coordination with our various operating departments. 

What You Will Do (Core Responsibilities)

  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Promote a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge-sharing and cross-functional collaboration.
  • European Accounting Operations: Oversee the financial accounting operations for the company's European subsidiaries, ensuring consistent accounting practices, proper intercompany transactions, and compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the overall accuracy and integrity of the financial information as well as meeting all internal and external deadlines.
  • Responsible for all statutory, tax and regulatory reporting across Europe, including financial accounts, VAT and others required.
  • Work closely with Global Tax function for all consolidated corporate tax reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and prevent fraudulent activities. Continuously monitor and evaluate internal control systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Payroll: Oversee European payroll team to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, in accordance with all local rules and regulations, as well as ensuring all required tax withholdings and filings are submitted timely and accurately.
  • Set the standards as a leader and coach for increased levels of employee job satisfaction and employee engagement through the development and mentoring of the accounting team.
  • Drive processes to optimise and automate accounting operations to drive efficient monthly/quarterly close cycles and improve accuracy and efficiency.

What You Need (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
  • Experience with managing European accounting operations, including month and year-end closes.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and filings.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading finance teams, implementing internal controls, and driving process improvements.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Progressive substantive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles.
  • Experience with publicly listed companies.

What would be nice (preferred skills & experience):

  • CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Software / SAAS / Technology industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of software industry business models, including SaaS andterm licenses.
