Lead Software Designer at Mitel

Andrew Szabo has a diverse work experience in the fields of software design and education. Andrew began their career in 1989 as a High School Teacher with the Ottawa-Carleton Board of Education. In 1992, they transitioned to become a part-time Professor at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, where they taught subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physical Chemistry lab.

In 1999, Andrew joined Mitel as a Software Designer, where they initially worked on requirements analysis, design, and maintenance of call processing signalling components. Andrew also debugged and troubleshooted customer reported problems. During their tenure, they designed and maintained a web browser-based management tool for a remote phone login product. Throughout the years, they progressed within the company, holding positions such as Senior Software Designer and Lead Software Designer.

In their most recent position at Mitel, as a Senior Software Designer, they worked on the MiVoice Business Console product, specifically on the design aspect of the Windows-based application that provides an attendant function. Their expertise in software design and their experience in various roles within Mitel demonstrate their proficiency in the field.

Andrew Szabo has a varied education history. Andrew earned a B.Sc. in Chemical Physics from Queen's University in 1988, followed by a B.Ed. in Chemistry and Physics Education from Queen's University in 1989. Andrew then pursued an M.Sc. in Chemical Physics from Queen's University from 1990 to 1992. Andrew later attended the University of Ottawa from 1994 to 1997 for a Ph.D., though it remains incomplete. In 1998 and 1999, they engaged in retraining at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa in Software Design.
