Juan MacArio

Juan Macario has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Juan currently holds the position of Head of Risk and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Mizuho Bank, Ltd since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Citi for ten years, starting as a Senior Manager in Market Risk Management and eventually becoming the Senior Vice President in charge of model risk and market risk for multiple asset classes. Juan also implemented risk management frameworks and was responsible for stress testing, risk appetite, and capital adequacy. Before joining Citi, they worked at CIBC for five years in various roles, including Director of Market Risk for Treasury and Fixed Income. Juan successfully implemented risk appetite frameworks and limit calibration projects. Additionally, they completed a rotational program in Treasury and Risk Management, gaining experience in equities market risk management, credit risk analytics, treasury market risk management, and credit portfolio management. Earlier in their career, they served as the Engineering and Construction Manager for South America and the Caribbean region at Cemex Venezuela, S.A.C.A.

Juan Macario completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from UCAB - Universidad Católica Andrés Bello from 1994 to 1999. Juan then pursued an MBA with a focus on Finance at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management from 2004 to 2006.
