Geoff Maffett

Geoff Maffett recently served as the Vice President of Operations for BAE Systems, Inc. In this role, Geoff led significant gains in productivity, quality and on-time delivery for the Ground and Amphibious Armored vehicles business unit. Breakthrough results were achieved through improved teamwork and communications, coupled with the deployment of Lean and Six Sigma tools in fabrication and assembly.

Prior to his BAE Systems assignment, Geoff served as Vice President, Operational Excellence for Mueller Water Products (MWP), a leader in the production of water infrastructure components and intelligent water meters. Geoff designed and led the company-wide, transformation to a broad-based Lean Business, which led to substantial improvements in safety, quality, and productivity, while dramatically reducing Operations working capital.

Prior to MWP, Geoff’s career included multiple plant leadership roles in a wide range of manufacturing industries, including boatbuilding at Brunswick Corp (brands such as Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and Bayliner), food manufacturing for Winn-Dixie Corporate Brands, and Electrical power distribution products at the Eaton Cutler Hammer Division.

Geoff is an engaging, enthusiastic evangelist and leader for Operations Excellence, with a notable track record of rapid step change improvements in each of his assignments. As an authority on Lean Transformations, he has made industry presentations to MAPI and the Association for Manufacturing Excellence on topics including Manufacturing Strategy Deployment, Visual Management, Servant Leadership, Equipment Reliability and Behavioral Safety, just to name a few.

Geoff holds a Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. In addition, he competed the Duke Lafarge MDP program at the Duke Fuqua school of business. Geoff has been certified as both a Lean Six Sigma Master Blackbelt and a Six Sigma Blackbelt.
