Job description

The Moda Operandi Editor is a key member of Moda’s vibrant editorial team.  Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Editor role offers a unique opportunity to generate editorial storytelling across all categories, which include Fashion, Beauty, Home, Lifestyle and Fine Jewelry.

This is a temp to perm, hybrid role with 1 day a week (Wednesday) in our Brooklyn, New York office required.

Primary Responsibilities, include: 

  • Generate Moda’s editorial content (concept, image, copy) in collaboration with Editorial Director and Managing Editor, ensuring programming is on-brand and aligned with business priorities across Trunkshow (drop) and Boutique models 
  • Write stories and pitch ideas that drive core business priorities and fit within the wider framework of Moda’s editorial themes & calendar
  • Regularly update our site homepages (copy, image, curations)
  • Execute email content for our successful newsletter (concept, image, copy, curation)
  • Update stories, landing pages, and curations with key product or messages as needed
  • Collaborate with other editors and writers on content across all categories
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners inc. social on storytelling (inc. concepting, writing, curating, visual layout)
  • Liaise cross-functionally (i.e., merchandising, stylists, product copy, paid) to share key messaging
  • Image organization and research
  • This role must be able to complete the above across all categories: fashion, home, beauty, fine jewelry & lifestyle 

Qualifications/Ideal Experience:

  • 1 year of relevant experience (writer, fashion assistant or supporting a market editor preferred)
  • Be an obsessive style insider, staying abreast of latest brands, trends, and exciting people across all our categories 
  • Passionate about the digital shopping experience and the discovery of fashion and style 
  • Aware of wider trends and news outside of fashion and beauty
  • Excellent writer and editor (copy, image, curation skills) with an encyclopedic knowledge of the brands that Moda carries and the style space we operate in
  • Understand Moda's unique brand voice and how to contextualize the products we carry
  • Highly organized and able to incorporate feedback on tight deadlines
  • Motivated self-starter who can bring an abundance of ideas and enthusiasm to the table
  • Social media experience advantageous (creating content)
  • Video content experience advantageous (concepting, script writing etc)
  • Published work (written or edits) in the realm of lifestyle/beauty/luxury preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required

Job Type: Temp to perm; Hybrid role with one day a week in our Brooklyn NY (Industry City) office space

Salary: $26.50 - $31.25 per hour
