Leo Zhang

Leo Zhang is a dedicated scientist currently working at Moderna as an Oncology Bioinformatics Scientist since May 2023. Prior to this role, Leo served as a Doctoral Student at UT Southwestern Medical Center from August 2018 to April 2023, under the supervision of Dr. Daehwan Kim, where significant contributions included the development of the HISAT-3N sequence aligner for nucleotide conversion technologies. Leo's experience includes a Bioinformatics Internship at Corteva Agriscience, a Research Technician position at Baylor College of Medicine, and various research roles at Colorado State University, focusing on RNA-seq dataset analysis, machine learning for brain image classification, and recombinant DNA cloning. Leo holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from UT Southwestern Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Colorado State University, with additional training in Immunology through an online certificate program at Harvard Medical School.
