Pedro Coutinho

Pedro Coutinho, PhD, has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Pedro is currently the Head of BI and Data Science at Modulr, where they lead the BI, Insights, and Data Science team and oversees the migration to a new Data infrastructure. Prior to this, they served as the BI and Data Science Manager at Modulr, where they led the BI and DS team and implemented algorithms to create data products for predicting customer behaviors.

Before joining Modulr, Pedro worked as a Data Science Manager at ION Geophysical, where they established the Data Science function and implemented machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies. Pedro also served as the Head of Business Intelligence at Cloudreach, where they designed and implemented a new Cloud Billing System and analyzed and reported on Cloud Platform transactions.

Pedro's academic background includes studying Investment Management at MSc level at Heriot-Watt University and conducting research on the development of the central nervous system using a systems biology approach at the University of Edinburgh. Pedro has also worked as a Research Fellow/Scientist at the Medical Research Council and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia, focusing on genetic networks, molecular evolution, and disease modeling.

Pedro Coutinho, PhD has a strong educational background in both mathematics and investment management. Pedro obtained a Bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics from Universidade de Coimbra in 1995. Pedro further pursued their education with a Master's degree in Mathematics from the same institution, which they completed in 1996. Pedro then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Developmental Biology at UCL from 1997 to 2001. In 2013, they attended Heriot-Watt University, where they earned an MSc in Investment Management. Additionally, Pedro completed a course on computational investments through coursera at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2013. Pedro also holds a certification in Data Warehouse from Snowflake, obtained in 2022.
