Richard Lord has extensive work experience in the technology and change management field. Richard currently serves as the Head of Enterprise Technology & Change at Modulr, where they develop robust API and platform business systems to meet clients' B2B payment needs. Prior to this role, Richard worked at Alliance Trust as the CIO, leading technology and business change during the divestment, sale, and migration of the platform business. Before that, they took a career break to pursue other interests and also worked as a Manager in Sailing and Mountain Biking. Richard has also held various positions at Standard Life Aberdeen, including Head of IT and Change Delivery, Senior Digital Programme Manager, and Corporate Development Consultant. Richard has experience in delivering technology change programs, leading digital transformations, and driving fintech innovation. Richard's earlier work experience includes roles at Royal Bank of Scotland Business and Sun Microsystems, where they worked as a Senior Project Manager, Six Sigma Blackbelt, Programme Manager, Operations Manager, and Project Manager. Richard began their career at Valeo as an Engineer and Graduate Trainee, specializing in manufacturing engineering and operations management.

Richard Lord has a diverse education history. In 1988, they earned a B.Eng (Hons) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production and Inventory control, and MRP from the University of Birmingham. Richard further pursued their education at the University of Warwick, where they obtained an MSc in Information Technology, Software Development, Solution Architecture, Networks, and Databases between 1991 and 1993. In 1993, they attended INSEAD for a Management Programme focused on Leadership, Operations Management, Lean/JIT, and Marketing. In 2002, Richard enrolled at The University of Edinburgh and completed an MBA specializing in Strategy, Marketing, Corporate Finance, eCommerce, and Entrepreneurship from 2002 to 2004. In 2008, they attended MSP and Princec2 Practitioner for Programme and Project Management. Richard also participated in the Standard Life Accelerated Development Scheme (ADS) at JMW Consultants Inc in 2014 to enhance their Advanced Leadership and Executive development skills. Additionally, they have received training in Facilitation Skills, Change Acceptance Planning, 6 Sigma black belt, and Sun Leadership Programme from Sun University.
