Carly Bunston's work experience begins in 2012 as a Summer Research Student at Cardiff University. In 2013, they became a STEM Ambassador for STEMNET, a role they held until 2016. During that time, they also worked as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at Aneurin Bevan Health Board. In 2015, Carly worked as a Research Assistant at Cardiff University, focusing on the Metastasis and Angiogenesis Research Group.

In 2019, Carly joined Cellesce Ltd as a Research Technician and was later promoted to Research Scientist. Their responsibilities included researching and developing organoid culture workflows, manufacturing organoid lines, optimizing cell culture conditions, deriving new organoid lines, and developing quality control assays. Carly left Cellesce Ltd in 2023 and is currently working as a Scientist at Molecular Devices.
