Melissa Cheah has a diverse and extensive work experience. Melissa began their career in 2012 as a Digital Content Coordinator for the Western Australian Cricket Association, where they were responsible for creating content for the Perth Scorchers KFC T20 Big Bash League Team and the Alcohol Think Again Western Warriors. In 2015, they worked as a Social Media & Digital Coordinator for Token Group - Australia, facilitating engagement strategies across all online channels and designing content for comedy.com. Melissa also worked as a Music Festival Booking Coordinator for Graceland Presents in 2015. In 2016, they worked as a UX Designer for Bourne Digital Pty Ltd, collaborating closely on project planning and execution with key stakeholders of Decipha and Australia Post to create a proof of concept mobile capture app. Melissa also worked as a UX / UI Designer for Tigerspike, a global digital products company, and as a UX Consultant for IS IT A BIRD, a strategic innovation agency. Additionally, they worked as a UX Instructional Associate and UX Teaching Assistant for General Assembly, and a UX Designer for Naked Ambition. Finally, in 2018 they began working as a Senior UX Designer, Crew Lead, Social Committee and UX Designer for momondo, a travel fare aggregator and travel fare metasearch engine.

Melissa Cheah has a diverse educational background. In 2016, they obtained a UX Design Immersive certification from General Assembly. From 2008 to 2012, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Digital Media from Edith Cowan University. From 2010 to 2011, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Art & Multimedia Technology from Fachhochschule Salzburg. Additionally, Melissa has obtained three certifications: Certified Behavioural Designer from SUE | Behavioural Design in 2019, Behavioural Science from Ogilvy in 2017, and UX Design Immersive from General Assembly in 2016.
