Matthew Harper

Matthew Harper has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Matthew currently serves as the Chief Information & Security Officer at Monolith, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this, Matthew worked at Devon Energy for over a decade, starting in 2011, where they held the role of Chief Information Security Officer. In this role, they were responsible for various aspects of information security, risk management, and digital privacy for a Fortune 500 energy company. Matthew also led infrastructure services, managing functions such as public cloud migration, data centers, and network operations.

Matthew also has experience in the field of intelligence and law enforcement. Matthew worked at the FBI for several years, starting as a Special Agent in 1997. During their time at the FBI, Matthew served as a Cyber Special Agent, investigating and prosecuting criminal and nation-state cyber threats. Matthew also provided support for counter-terrorism and counter-intelligence investigations, including those related to the 9/11 attacks. Prior to joining the FBI, Matthew worked as an Assistant City Administrator for the City of Fulton, Missouri, and as a Child Support Enforcement Investigator for the Missouri Department of Social Services.

In addition to their professional positions, Matthew has also served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Oil and Natural Gas Information Sharing and Analysis Center from 2015 to 2021. Overall, Matthew Harper brings a wealth of experience in information security, law enforcement, and public administration to their current role as Chief Information & Security Officer at Monolith.

Matthew Harper earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1988 to 1992. Matthew further pursued their education at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from 1994 to 1996. Additionally, Matthew Harper received a Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University; however, the specific years of enrollment for this program are not provided. In terms of certifications, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification from ISACA in January 2019. Matthew also completed the FBI CISO Academy offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in October 2017. Further, Matthew Harper acquired the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in July 2009.
